Netherlands–Poland vehicle transport guide
Drive a purchased car home or use a transporter?
Compare the full costs of travelling, temporary registration, insurance, fuel and vehicle transport.
- Confirm the exact pickup and delivery addresses and contact numbers.
- Check the VIN, vehicle dimensions, approximate weight and running condition.
- Make sure the keys and correct handover documents are available.
- Photograph visible damage and agree a realistic loading window.
Driving the car home
Driving can be attractive when the car is roadworthy, properly registered or exported for road use, insured and fit for a long trip. Include fuel, tolls, travel to the seller, accommodation, temporary plates and the value of your time when comparing costs.
When a transporter makes more sense
Transport is often the safer choice for cars with unknown mechanical history, body damage, expired inspection, no legal driving documents or a long distance to the destination. It also avoids putting extra kilometres on a recently purchased vehicle.
Make a fair comparison
Ask for a complete door-to-door price and compare it with all self-drive expenses, not just fuel. Tell the carrier about low ground clearance, missing keys, flat tyres or a car that will not start so proper equipment can be planned.
