Netherlands–Poland vehicle transport guide
Export number plates in the Netherlands
Export plates and insurance may be relevant if you intend to drive the car out of the Netherlands.

- Confirm the exact pickup and delivery addresses and contact numbers.
- Check the VIN, vehicle dimensions, approximate weight and running condition.
- Make sure the keys and correct handover documents are available.
- Photograph visible damage and agree a realistic loading window.
When export plates matter
Export plates may be necessary if you intend to drive an exported vehicle on public roads rather than load it onto a transporter. Ask the RDW or an authorised provider about the permitted use, validity and which documents must accompany the vehicle.
Insurance and roadworthiness
Do not assume deregistration alone permits you to drive. Check liability insurance, applicable technical inspection (APK) and route requirements in every country of transit. A vehicle with serious faults should not be driven simply because temporary plates are available.
The transporter alternative
A car carried on a suitable transporter generally does not need to be driven on its own export plates for the journey. This can simplify collection of cars without a valid APK, cars with defects or cars whose buyer prefers not to drive long distances. Registration/export paperwork is still important.
